Look at these FREE workshops being offered – come to one or come to all – They are appropriate for ALL ages!

Monday, February 20th

9 am: RAISING QUAIL 101: NO CHICKENS ALLOWED, NO PROBLEM! 

Want to have your own fresh eggs, but can’t keep chickens?

No problem, come learn about keeping quail for a homegrown egg source in ANY type of living situation. There will be baby quail to view, and cages & feeders available as well.

Conducting this workshop is Sara, the owner of Swfl Quail Lady. She teaches others how to be more sustainable by keeping dual purpose animals and passionately advocates for humane treatment and care of all captive animals.

10 am AMAZING EARTHWORMS

Want to compost in your own yard, but don’t want the mess or the smell? No problem! Raise Earthworms!!

The Amazing Earthworm presentation will explain why earthworms are so important to life on earth and the many benefits of using a natural amendment like worm castings to enrich the soil. You will learn what to feed them and how to care for earthworms even if you have a small space.

This workshop is appropriate for ALL ages!
There will be earthworms to touch and see, and for purchase, as well as worm castings and worm tea.

Conducting this workshop is Sean Moore of Green Leaf Worm Farm. He has been growing worms commercially for 7 years in Port Charlotte. You have probably seen him at one of the many festivals he attends locally. Last year he started the Green Leaf Microgreens business as well.

11 am RABBITS 101:THE FURRY FERTILIZER FACTORY

Want to use CLEAN, chemical-free fertilizer on your edibles?

Learn the benefits of bunny berries for your garden and basics of easy rabbit keeping.

ROMEO, a Holland Lop Bunny will be available to pet. Cages and feeders will be also be available.

SCRATCH & DENT EDIBLE PLANT SALE

Spring is just around the corner and some plants are just starting to show signs of new life after looking a little barren over the winter, or some plants/trees just need bigger pots, a little more water, or maybe just a little extra TLC. Because they are not showing 100% perfect, that means HUGE SAVINGS for you!

The sale will run from 9 am – 12 noon, Monday Feb 20th. In the parking lot at the HOLTON ECO PRESERVE. 13411 Shire Lane (off Daniels), Fort Myers 33908

Please join me for The First Annual Sunflower Hardest at the Children’s Garden in Lakes Park!

Thursday Sept. 22, 2016 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. Children age 10 and under and parents, please join us at the Sunflower bed in the Children’s Garden (next to the Community Gardens) at Lakes Park

Adrienne Diaz – Master Gardener

Adrienne will be on hand to harvest the first crop of sunflowers that was gown in the Children’s Garden. In her entertaining story telling style Adrienne will delight the children with the sunflower story and how it got its name. Following the the talk and harvest, children will plant their own sunflower seed to take home and nurture.
